On the 4th of October this year, the Nigerian entertainment
industry was thrown into darkness when an actor, Clem Onyeka, father of three
boys, was killed by stray bullets. Clem died from a gunshot fired when some
alleged armed robbers engaged operatives in a gun battle over an attempt by the
alleged criminals to rob a bullion van in Asaba, Delta State.
The latest news coming
from Delta State may sooth some people, who have urged the police to bring the
culprits to book. Weeks after the unfortunate incident, the Delta State Police
Command has paraded over 15 armed robbery and kidnap suspects.
Among those in custody of
the police is the robbery gang that attacked the bullion van on DBS Road,
Asaba, which allegedly caused the death of popular Nollywood actor.
At a month-end press
conference at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, the new Commissioner of Police,
Alkali Baba Usman, reflected on some of the successes recorded in the month
under review.
The Dragon team, which
made the arrests, recovered two AK 47 rifle magazines containing 56 rounds of
7.62mm live ammunition from them.
Also arrested were
alleged car snatchers, Okiemute and Onyemone Egiliga. They were reportedly car
with the Toyota Hiace bus with registration number Delta KLK 16 XA they
snatched at Bright Hope Street, Airport Road, Warri.
