AWC 2014: Nigeria’s Super Falcons crowned African Champion for seventh time

The Nigerian national women’s team, Super Falcons, have reclaimed the African title they lost two years ago after they beat their Cameroonian counterparts 2-0 on Saturday in Windhoek, Namibia.

Two goals in the first half from Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala was all that was needed for Nigeria to claim an astonishing seventh Africa Women Championships title.

Despite not getting on the scorers’ sheet, Francisca Ordega was voted best player of the match

The Falcons won all their matches in this tournament scoring 16 goals and conceding just three goals in the process.

Nigeria will now proceed to the Canada 2015 World Cup as African champion.

Meanwhile, striker Desire Oparanozie won the golden boots award after scoring five goals

Ngo Ndom from Cameroon won best goal keeper award while Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala again was voted the Most Valuable Player.
