Documentary 'Finding Fela' Set To Screen In Cinemas Nationwide‏


Late Veteran afrobeat singer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who used his music on many occasions, as a political forum to oppose corrupt Nigerian governments and to advocate for the rights of all oppressed people has always made history and will continue to make history.

He also used this medium to express his revolutionary political opinions against the dictatorial Nigerian government of the 1970s and 1980s. His influence helped bring a change towards democracy in Nigeria and promoted Pan Africanist politics to the world. The power and potency of Fela’s message is completely current today and is expressed in the political movements of oppressed people, embracing Fela’s music and message in their struggle for freedom.

A documentary which is directed by Alex Gibney and produced by Jack Gulick and Executive producers, Ruth and Stephen Hendel is set to be screened nationwide in cinemas in Nigeria as from 17th October 2014 but before then a premiere will be held at the New Afrika Shrine on the 12th of October which is the start of the Felabration week (From 12th October – 19th October 2014).

The documentary features a myriad of interviews from all over the world by people touched by the genius of the man; His children Femi Kuti, Yeni Kuti and Seun Kuti, his album designer Lemi Ghariokwu, band member Tony Allen, Sandra Izsadore, Bill T. Jones, Paul McCartney, Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson and many others.
