Happy independence Motherland

 By Kolawole Ilesanmi

Today being the first day of October as we all know is a significant and memorable day especially for this great Country  Nigeria as she turns 54, it is a day which marks her independence and sovereignty, though we all expect a 54 years old to be doing better, but without a doubt we cannot take away the fact that this great giant of Africa has stood the test of time despite all that has transpired within these 54 years of existence, despite the multi ethnic and diverse nature of our great country we have all been able to tolerate one another and have continued to live together as one country till date, though it has not been all that rosy all along as we have undergone a civil war which really threatened the unity of this great nation and some other communal  and ethnic conflicts which are still occurring till this very day.

You will all agree with me that with the mineral, natural and human resources that abounds in this Green Nation called Nigeria we ought to have advanced beyond this stage, but unfortunately we have not been fortunate with credible, God fearing and sincere political office holders since independence, and worsely we spent so many painful and terrible years wallowing in military dictatorship.

It is also a well Known fact that the average Nigerian is a resilient individual, we get back up the minute we hit the ground and no matter how terrible the situation may seem the average Nigerian will never be defeated by difficult circumstances, over the years reasonable percentage of Nigerians have been able to achieve giant strides both home and abroad without Government aid or support.

Thought situations in the  past couple of years In this Country has called for great concern , as Insurgency and insecurity has really threatened the peace and unity of this great Nation, but despite all we still have our heads up high, and we are hopeful that within a short period all these unfortunate occurrences would be a thing of the past and we will all be partakers in the abundant blessings and riches that God Almighty has bestowed upon us as great sons and daughters of the most populous black nation on earth, and the Giant of this great continent called Africa.

On behalf of the entire KIB team i wish our great country and each and every Nigerian a Happy independence celebration, God bless Nigeria.
