Lings Wood and a pit bull similar to
the one set on the girl
Two sick yobs set
a pit bull terrier on a disabled 12-year-old girl in a wheelchair.
The girl was being
pushed by her father when she became upset by the dog and waved her arms.
One of the thugs
then got hold of the vicious animal and commanded it to “get her”.
The beast clamped
its jaws around the girl’s arm but she escaped injury when her father bravely
intervened.
She was also
protected by arm guards which she wears because of her disability.
Inspector Kev
Byrne, of Northamptonshire Police, said: “This is an absolutely disgraceful
incident. It is not a case of a dog being out of control, but being used as a
weapon in an assault on a very vulnerable girl.”
The two men fled
after the attack at Lings Wood nature reserve in Northampton at 4pm on Friday.
Police said they
were black and in their 30s.
One was around
6ft, clean-shaven with short black hair and wore a blue T-shirt and jeans.
The other is
around 5ft 10in with medium length Afro-style hair and wore a white T-shirt and
jeans.
The dog was
described as a black and white pit bull-type breed with a white stripe from the
top of its head to its nose.
