As battle for supremacy in
the mobile phone market intensifies, Tecno mobile says it’s
not left out in the global trend of unique brand development, affordability and
improvement, as it plans to build plant in Nigeria in 2015.
President of Tecno Phone
Dealers Association in Nigeria, TDAN, Mr. Onuigbo Anthony, made this disclosure
at its Dealer Conference in Lagos, saying that the Tecno brand is one of the
brands that has successfully tapped into a market where people would rather pay
less for a good product that performs same functions like others that go for a
much more higher price.”
He pointed out that the Tecno
brand entered the Nigerian market six years ago with the vision to giving
Nigerian consumer value for their money at a time established brands offered
products at exorbitant prices.
Condemning the importation of
substandard Tecno phones, Mr Onuigbo said: “that a product is
affordable compared to other products doesn’t make it
substandard. Every brand has its own pricing strategy, and
“Tecno has risen in product range, features and
specifications at a pocket friendly price thereby becoming the darling of the
Nigerian consumers,” he noted.
He pointed that as a result
of the rising profile of the brand in the market some individuals intend to
push the brand out of the market by importing substandard Tecno brands which
have caused disaffection on the minds of Tecno mobile users.
Continuing he said: as
dealers of original Tecno products, we believe that Tecno devices in the market
have met all requirements prescribed by the regulatory agencies of government.
“We hereby assure Standard Organisation of Nigeria, SON
of our continued compliance and cooperation and the Tecno products will
continue to meet with all standards set by SON and Nigeria Communications
Commission, NCC.”
