These days you sadly can’t trust anything or anybody, not even a girl setting herself on fire while twerking. So, as the internet exploded yesterday with the story of a 21-year-old wannabe reality star in Florida who’d received a middle breast implant — named Jasmine Tridevil, of course — a little skepticism was in order. (“Well, if it turns out this is all an elaborate Photoshop/CGI prank, it wouldn’t be the first time anyone assumed a fake breast was real.”)
Unfortunately, sometimes
dreams don’t come true. Santa Claus doesn’t
exist either, kids.
According to the trusted
myth-busters at Snopes.com, her site’s registration data
suggests that Tridevil’s real name is Alisha Hessler, “whose
‘Alisha’s Golden Touch’
massage web site now bears [a description] identifying her as ‘Provider
of internet hoaxes since 2014.’”
Additionally, Hessler may
have a history when it comes to deception. Snopes further reports that she was
arrested for “fraudulent use of personal information”
in March 2013, and withdrew a police complaint later that year when they asked
her for specifics. Also, in one of her videos, Snopes says, the breasts “appeared
to be of an entirely different skin tone than her facial skin and limbs.”
But hey, fluorescent light is rough on everyone.
However, Tridevil/Hessler is
sticking to her story. The Sun claims she told them, “The
boob’s no hoax. This is not a fake. I had the procedure
done. If people don’t believe it, that’s up to them.”
She says there’s a video of the operation, and “I
plan to release it on my reality TV show and I don’t
really care what people think or say about me.”
Last night, TV cameramen
interviewed her at home, but she wouldn’t allow a thorough
examination of the middle boob, “because it’s
in episode six of my show.” (Also, that’s
not a super polite question.) She lifted her shirt, though, and as Jezebel
describes it, “That boob looks like a pantyhose filled with cotton.
That boob looks like a painted balloon. That boob looks fake as hell.”
So, is this definitely fake?
Only time will tell, but there are two especially convincing factors: 1) she
says she’s booked on Jimmy Kimmel’s
show — we know how that ends —
and 2) she explains, “I got it because I wanted to make myself unattractive
to men.”
