The Confederation of African
Football (CAF), has announced Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire
and Guinea as hosts of the Africa Cup of Nations for the 2019, 2021 and 2023
editions respectively.
For Cameroon, it will bring a
42-year hosting drought to an end, as the only time they hosted the continental
competition, was in 1972.
It will also be Côte d’Ivoire’s
second bite of the cherry. The West Africans hosted the 1984 edition. Guinea
have never hosted an AFCON tournament before.
CAF have also confirmed that
voting for the hosts of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, will take place early
in 2015.
Zambia and Algeria lost out
in the bidding to host the 2019 and 2021 events respectively.
