The Ogun State Police Command
attached to the Ayetoro Division has apprehended a 25-year-old man, Kayode
Akanni, of Pedepo Village in Ayetoro for having carnal knowledge of a three
-year- old girl.
It is reported that the
suspect tricked the victim into his room, before he defiled her, thereby
damaging her private parts.
Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, the
Command Spokesman said it was the injuries inflicted on the girl that exposed
Akanni’s evil deed, making her parents to report the matter
to the police and the suspect was promptly arrested.
The suspect, he added, had
confessed to the crime.
“During police interrogation, it was discovered that
the suspect tricked the young and innocent baby into his room by telling her to
bring to him a bunch of keys outside the room.
“It was after that, he had unlawful carnal knowledge of
the girl.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime, while the
victim has been taken to hospital for treatment,”
he said.
Adejobi said the Commissioner
of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered the case to be transferred to the
Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta for detailed
investigation and perfect prosecution of the matter, as such would serve as a
deterrent to others involved in such hideous act.
