Lionel Messi's Hometown Bans Parents From Naming Their Children 'Messi'

After Rosario, Argentina, resident Héctor Varela named his son Messi in honor of hometown hero Lionel Messi government officials banned parents from naming children after the soccer superstar. According to Mundo Deportivo, officials expected a flood of babies named Messi could lead to confusion, and theyd apparently rather deal with school rooms full of di Marias and Cambiassos.

The timing seems a little off here. Lionel Messi is a four-time World Player of the year, and hes been a superstar for Barcelona for going on nine years. Now were all of a sudden worried about too many Messis?
