The Miss Black Africa UK
Organisation has released the line-up of finalists for the 2014 edition of Miss
Black Africa UK. The pageant is the largest ethnic pageant and was
awarded the BEFFTA Best Beauty pageant in the UK for 2012 and 2013. The Grand
Finale takes place on the 4th of October at the Royal Regency Hall, Manor Park
in London. On the night, 25 girls from 12 African countries will compete to be
crowned the new queen.
Founded in 2011, the pageant
is highly competitive and seeks to bring out those leadership qualities in
women. The winner becomes a goodwill ambassador for Miss Black Africa, charged
with designing and implementing a charity program based on their Pageant
Platform.
One of the Judges this year
will be 1995 Miss World finalist, Rosemary Okeke, who will be flying in from
Nigeria to join a distinguished panel of Judges. Rosemary was crowned Miss
Nigeria in 1994 and set up a flourishing Fashion business. She is currently the
Liaison Officer to Imo state Governor, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
Nollywood actress Ini Edo, was on the judging panel in 2013.
The outgoing queen, Sonia Ike
and her team visited Nigeria in March 2014 on a 3 week charity project to
refurbish and stock a children’s library in Central
School 7 in Imo State.
